Construction White Card - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry 

This 1-day White Card course specifies the mandatory work health and safety (WH&S) training required prior to undertaking construction work in Queensland.

WorkSafe Connect (RTO 31385) is approved by WorkSafe Qld to deliver the General Construction Induction Training (GCIT).

Having delivered workplace health and safety programs for over 10 years WorkSafe Connect is one of Queensland’s leading suppliers of white card training.

The training covers basic knowledge regarding work health and safety laws, common construction site hazards and ways of controlling hazards.

The program consists of the nationally accredited unit of competency:

  • CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Course Details

The White Card training course covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies.

Key areas covered by this course include:

  • Identifying health and safety requirements related to working on a construction site
  • Identifying construction hazards and risk control measures
  • Identify and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Identify ways to communicate and the reporting process
  • Applying safe work practices whilst working on construction sites

An individual looking to work in Queensland’s construction industry will require a White Card.

Training will be conducted by one of our experienced trainer assessors who have industry currency, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.

WorkSafe Connect must use the GCIT assessment provided by the Regulator and we strive to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.

WorkSafe Connect offers this course:

  • Face to Face – Public Courses (Brisbane and Townsville)
  • Face to Face – Onsite (at your site / workplace)
  • Virtual – Real time, Instructor led training (live)

Students must be 13 years of age and over and supply 3 matching, original evidence of identity prior to undertaking training.

To complete the course, students must successfully complete the GCIT assessment which is aligned with the national unit of competency.

All assessments are completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:

  • CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Students will also be issued with the white card on the day after successful completion.
