NQ Safety Leadership Group championing Work Safe Month Oct 2015

11/04/2019

Work Safe Month is part of a National Workplace Health and Safety QLD initiative encouraging all working Queenslanders to get involved in safety at their workplace, helping to reduce the incidence of death, injury and disease.

Tragically around 17 Queenslanders die each year as a result of traumatic workplace incidents, and over 5000 suffer a permanent injury. These deaths and injuries carry with them a devastating and personal impact on workers and their families, with a significant financial cost to the Queensland community.

Safe Work Month is the perfect time to remind people how they can continue to make Queensland workplaces safe.

WorkSafe Connect, JESI and Fredericks Heywood have united in initiating the NQ Safety Leadership Group. Spokesperson Joe Hoolahan said ‘the NQ Safety Leadership Group was formed 6 months ago with the mandate of promoting best safety practices that are innovative, improve organisational efficiencies and most of all ensure that our people return home safe’.

In partnership with Workplace Health and Safety QLD, the NQ Safety Leadership Group will be championing a key symposium of respected Safety Leaders to support Work Safe October 2015.

‘Championing an event to support Work Safe October 2015 was an ideal forum to promote safety in the workplace and a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility’Joe Hoolahan went on to say. The NQ Safety Leadership Group have committed to a suite of ongoing forums over the next 12 months to provide continued advocacy of Best Safety Practices.

The NQ Safety Leadership Group and Workplace and Safety QLD, are extending an invitation to attend the free Work Safe Month luncheon.
