Frequently Asked Questions

Basic fire safety training is designed to teach you response actions in the event of a fire in the workplace. In addition, you will be able to identify different classes of fire and the correct equipment to fight them along with the techniques for their use.

Fire is made up of 4 elements – oxygen, heat, fuel and chemical reaction – it is important to remember if you remove one of these you won’t have a fire or the fire will be extinguished.

Use the acronym RACE:

  • Remove everyone from the area
  • Alarm – Commence procedures for alerting emergency services
  • Confine the fire – Close doors behind you
  • Extinguish or evacuate – Only extinguish if it safe to do so, otherwise evacuate
