Course Overview

 

WorkSafe Connect's Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (BSB41415) program is focused towards individuals who take on the responsibility for safety in the workplace and/or are seeking to build on their career in work health and safety.
 
Participants will learn how to identify workplace health and safety hazards, assess and control risks, ensure compliance with current legislation and consult on WHS issues.
 
Our face-to-face program is completed via a five-day intensive delivery and is targeted towards coordinators, team leaders and managers in the workplace who have verifiable experience or previous training in Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices.

Course Outline

Requirements for completion of the qualification

A total of ten (10) units of competency - core and elective - are required to be successfully completed.

WorkSafe Connect's Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety program comprises the following 10 units:

  • BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents
  • BSBWHS408 Assist with effective WHS management of contractors
  • BSBWHS409 Assist with workplace monitoring processes
  • BSBWHS410 Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives
  • PUAWER002B Ensure workplace emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented
  • BSBMGT403 Implement continuous improvement

 

Pre-Requisite Requirements

The intensive 5-day program is targeted at coordinators, advisors and facilitators and has been designed based on participants having the following capabilities:

  • English language proficiency and literacy skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend information from a variety of sources
  • Communicate effectively with people at a variety of organisational levels
  • Issue instructions in an authoritative manner during unusual circumstances
  • Carry out simple calculations and analyse data
  • Build relationships with stakeholders (both internal and external to an organisation)
  • Be confident in presenting information verbally

In addition, students must have verifiable experience or training in Work Health & Safety practices.

As such, all prospective students must complete a skills & experience form in order to attend the WorkSafe Connect course. The information provided will be reviewed by a WHS trainer assessor and once the participant's level of experience is deemed suitable, the student will be enrolled in the course.

What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?


If you're studying nationally recognised training in Australia from 1 January 2015, you are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Your USI links to an online account that contains all your training records and results that you have completed from 1 January 2015 onwards and without this number we cannot issue you your statement of attainment.
